Find clarity.
Build resilience.
Move forward.
Thoughtful, evidence-based counseling for adults who may look like they are holding everything together while feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, anxious, disconnected, or stuck underneath the surface.
Your life has a story. Understanding it can change what comes next.
Therapy can help you step outside the noise, understand the patterns shaping your life, and build practical ways to respond differently.
At True Path Counseling, I believe effective therapy requires both compassion and honesty. You deserve a space where you can speak openly without judgment—and where you can also be thoughtfully challenged, when appropriate, to examine the beliefs, behaviors, and patterns that may be keeping you stuck.
My goal is not simply to help you feel better for the moment. It is to help you understand yourself more clearly, strengthen your ability to navigate challenges, and create meaningful change that can continue beyond the therapy room.
— Nathalia Freitas
A lifelong learner, a counselor, and a believer in the possibility of change.
I was born and raised in Brazil and have called the United States home for more than two decades. Living between cultures has shaped the way I understand people, relationships, identity, and the importance of feeling understood—not only in what we say, but in what we mean, value, and carry with us.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating summa cum laude, and later completed my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at the University of Central Florida.
My clinical training included work with adults experiencing a wide range of mental health concerns, including through my clinical internship at the Orlando VA Medical Center. Working with veterans deepened my clinical skills and strengthened my appreciation for the complex ways resilience, responsibility, identity, trauma, relationships, and life transitions can intersect.
I was also honored to receive the NBCC Foundation Military Scholarship, recognition that reflects years of persistence, curiosity, and commitment to the counseling profession.
I believe good therapy requires both warmth and directness. Some people need practical tools and structure. Others need space to understand long-standing patterns. Many need both. My role is not to tell you who you should become, but to help you understand yourself, identify what may be keeping you stuck, develop useful skills, and move toward the life you want to build.
Outside of counseling, I am still very much a student at heart. I love learning, reading, researching, traveling, and exploring new ideas and cultures. Curiosity is one of the qualities that keeps us growing, and I bring that same curiosity into my work with clients.
When functioning well doesn't mean you're doing well.
Some people appear to have everything under control. They are dependable, productive, successful, and the ones others count on. Internally, they may feel exhausted, overwhelmed, disconnected, uncertain, or stuck.
Therapy can provide a place to step outside those responsibilities, slow down, and examine what is happening beneath the surface.
Counseling for adults seeking clarity, growth, and meaningful change.
Many of the people drawn to this work carry significant responsibility in their careers, families, communities, or all three. Others simply know that although they are functioning, something does not feel right. You do not need a specific diagnosis—or a particular job title—to reach out.
Professionals & Leaders
Executives, managers, entrepreneurs, business owners, physicians, dentists, attorneys, and other high-achieving professionals managing pressure, responsibility, burnout, or difficult decisions.
Transitions & Changing Roles
Veterans and military-connected adults, people navigating career or relationship changes, and adults adjusting to major life transitions—including new and first-time mothers navigating shifts in identity and responsibility.
When Something Feels Off
Adults experiencing anxiety, emotional overwhelm, perfectionism, self-worth concerns, relationship difficulties, or burnout—including people who have tried therapy before and want a more structured, intentional, collaborative, and action-oriented approach.
Practical tools. Deeper understanding. Meaningful change.
My primary framework is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), with strong influences from Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Motivational Interviewing (MI). I also draw from psychodynamic perspectives when it is helpful to explore how earlier experiences may shape present beliefs, patterns, relationships, and emotional responses.
I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach. Treatment is individualized around your goals, needs, history, strengths, culture, and clinical presentation.

Sometimes clarity begins with better information.
When clinically appropriate, standardized screening measures may be used to support treatment planning and develop a clearer picture of symptoms, functioning, and areas of concern.
Screening results are considered together with clinical interview, history, current functioning, and other relevant information—not interpreted in isolation.

Questions before you begin.
Who do you work with?
Do you work with children or adolescents?
Do you offer virtual and in-person counseling?
Is True Path Counseling an insurance-based practice?
No. I’ve chosen to operate as a private-pay practice so I can offer thoughtful, high-quality care without the limitations often imposed by insurance-based systems.
Insurance models are designed to prioritize scale and administrative efficiency. While they serve an important role, they frequently do not protect clinicians or honor the relational depth that effective therapy requires. They may require diagnoses before they are clinically appropriate, involve third-party access to personal information, or limit the pace and focus of care.
By not working directly with insurance companies, I’m able to protect your privacy, remain flexible in how we work together, and focus fully on your goals rather than on claims management. This allows our sessions to stay grounded in the therapeutic relationship — where meaningful change actually happens.
Do I need a diagnosis to begin therapy?
What happens during the first session?
What if I need a different level of care?
What if I am experiencing a mental health crisis?
What languages are available?
You don't have to navigate the path alone.
If you are considering counseling, a free consultation is a simple place to begin. We can talk briefly about what you are looking for, answer initial questions, and determine whether True Path Counseling may be a good fit.
